- Sing the Year of the Reef song on video and enter Reef Check’s contest!
During the 2008 International Year of the Reef (IYOR), help save reefs and share with others your creativity, musical style, and culture by creating a video using the Year of the Reef Song. Reef Check (RC) is running this contest with the goal of getting young people to learn more about the marine environment. In addition to having a lot of fun, you could win great prizes! - Project Aware Kids IYOR 2008 Art Contest - Project Aware is celebrating International Year of the Reef 2008 with a full year long art contest called "Celebrate the Reef - Every Act Counts". Children 12 and younger from around the world can grab their paint brushes and crayons and get creative for coral reefs. Selected winners from each age category will receive a special Coral Reef Ambassador plaque along with a certificate of recognition and other prizes. - Coral Reef photography Competition (deadline: June 30th, 2008)
In celebration of the Second International Year of the Reef, Reef Check Australia and Project AWARE are running an International 'What do coral reefs mean to you?' photography competition in two categories, for adults and for under 18 yrs. The competition will be run through a photo gallery portal on the Reef Check Australia website www.reefcheckaustralia.org . This allows anyone with internet access to become a member of Reef Check Australia and to uploaded images directly to the Reef Check web server. In addition registered members are also able to vote on all the competition entries excluding their own. In celebration of the International Year of the Reef 2008, Reef Check is hosting the photo contest "What Do Reefs Mean to You?" The goal is to raise awareness about the value and plight of coral and rocky reefs worldwide, and to encourage people to take action to help conserve reefs and associated ecosystems. Even if you are not a photographer, you can still participate by voting for your favorite photo! Participants can submit entries from July 1st, through August 31st, 2008.
