Blue Ventures is an award-winning not-for-profit dedicated to working with local communities to conserve threatened coral reefs and other marine resources for the betterment of people and nature. Funded almost entirely through eco-tourism revenue, Blue Ventures brings paying volunteers to project sites and trains them in scientific research, community outreach and on-the-ground conservation. Blue Ventures believes that environmental protection and economic development can - and must - go hand-in-hand. Along with traditional conservation strategies such as marine protected areas and reserves, Blue Ventures partners with communities to launch sustainable development projects including eco-tourism and mariculture that offer economic incentives to protect natural resources.

During the International Year of the Reef, Blue Ventures will work with local organizations, international NGOs and government agencies to protect some of the world's most threatened coral reef systems and broaden awareness of these vital natural resources.
In the United Kingdom, Blue Ventures is partnering with Coral Cay Conservation and the Project Aware Foundation to hold public events and educational activities to promote reef conservation and motivate people to take action to protect them.
