Plan of Action
The National Coordinating Unit (NCU) of COREMAP II will carry out the following activities to celebtrate the IYOR 2008
- Deep Indonesia 2008 is the biggest exhibition activity exploring undersea potential in Indonesia. In this event, IYOR 2008 was officially to be launched. Several activities were held at COREMAP II booth namely 1) Talk show with the theme "The Beauty of Coral Reef" on 29 March, 2008, 2) Workshop of coral reef watch with the theme "Marine Ekotourism depending on the Coral Reef" on 28 March, 2008, 3) Drawing and Coloring competition for Children, 4) Digital poster competition for students (View the results).
- Journalist traveling and Writing competition is an communication arena of COREMAP II's Education Program with media in campaigning coral reef management. As it has been done in the last year, this activity is effective enough in increasing publications in the media about the coral reef conservation.
- Coral Ambassadors, they are delegations of local young generations who were elected for campaigning and assisting the effort of increasing public awareness. Beside of regional ambassador, in year 2008 to be elected also national ambassador from the public figures.
- Competition on the composition of Coral Reef Song, this is a creativity competition for public in expressing coral reef conservation messages to the song.
- Quiz Contest, this activity will be held Regionally and Nationally. Participants for National level are pupils of High Schools (SLTA). This competition of capability and speeding up in analyzing coral reef management are hopefully provided young generation to love the environment, particularly coral reef conservation.
- National Discussion (Munas) and Exhibition of COREMAP II, this will be the second meeting to discuss issues on national and regional coral reef management after the first successful meeting held in 2007 in which "Indonesian Coral Reef Society (INCRES)" as the organization of coral reef watch in Indonesia was launched. This second meeting that plan to be held in September 2008 is an event that would facilitating all of COREMAP II activities and as a culminating point of it's works in the year 2008.
- COREMAP II will also features IYOR 2008 in upcoming publications, and public awareness activities through television and DVD production.
Besides of national activities, regional activities of COREMAP II in the year 2008 will alsocelebrate IYOR 2008
